Music at St. Andrews

Those who sing pray twice.” -St. Augustine

Music takes a place of great importance in the life of St. Andrew’s. Congregational singing, the cornerstone of music in our worship, is supported robust organ accompaniment and by choral ensembles, all of various levels of skill, ages, and dedication. St. Andrew’s is also the home of the private Crystal Coast Music Foundation, a foundation supporting a culture of musical integrity in the region.

The Choir of St. Andrew’s

The Choir of St. Andrew’s is the primary ensemble for the liturgies in the parish. The Choir is made of auditioned volunteers of varying skill levels and occasional professional musicians. Singers participate in rigorous, weekly rehearsals, a weekly Holy Eucharist liturgy on Sundays, monthly Choral Evensong, and occasional special services such as Lessons and Carols and Holy Week services. If you are interested in joining the St. Andrew’s, please complete the form at the link below.

The Choristers of the St. Andrew’s Choir School

The Choristers of the St. Andrew’s Choir School is the choir and music training program for young singers, ages 9–18, both in the parish and in the community. The Choristers are trained though the St. Andrew’s Choir School and use an intensive curriculum called Voice for Life designed by the Royal School of Church Music. The Choristers participate in rigorous, weekly rehearsals, frequent Holy Eucharist liturgies, monthly Choral Evensong, and occasional special services such as Lessons and Carols and Holy Week services. The Choristers also have weekly dinners and occasional social outings. The Organ at St. Andrew’s

The organ at St. Andrew’s is a late 90s model Rodgers Hybrid instrument. While this instrument has served St. Andrew’s well, it is coming to the end of its lifespan. The Vestry of St. Andrew’s has approved the formation of a committee to explore the process required to install a new organ in the church. This committee has started the process of plans for acquiring a new instrument that will serve St. Andrew’s for centuries to come.
